Waves of Change Bystander Intervention Training
Waves of Change Bystander Intervention Training is a peer facilitated violence prevention program offered at universities and colleges across Nova Scotia. Developed by the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre and Sexual Assault Services Association in partnership with Nova Scotia post secondary institutions, the program equips participants with the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to sexualized violence, support survivors, promote consent and contribute to creating safer campus communities.
Through this training, participants will learn how to:
- Recognize situations where harm may be occurring.
- Understand consent and sexualized violence.
- Use safe and effective bystander intervention strategies.
- Support survivors in an appropriate and informed way.
- Address harmful behaviours and contribute to positive cultural change.
- Understand how power, identity, alcohol, and social environments can influence experiences of violence.
The training provides practical tools and strategies that participants can use both on campus and in their everyday lives to help create safer, more respectful communities.
Available to both students, and faculty and staff the training will be offered throughout the semester to provide flexibility and accommodate schedules. Dates include:

Participants only need to attend one session to complete the training.
